What is The CrossFit OPEN

What is the CrossFit Open?
The CrossFit Open is the annual worldwide fitness competition that kicks off the CrossFit Games season. It’s a three-week test where athletes of all levels—first-timers to elite competitors—complete one workout per week. Each workout is announced on Thursday, and athletes have until Monday to submit their scores. You complete the workouts at your home gym or even from your garage, log your scores online, and see how you rank among athletes across the globe.

Why does it matter?
The Open is designed to celebrate fitness, consistency, and community. It’s not just about being the fittest—it’s about testing your personal progress year after year. You’ll see movements like burpees, wall balls, double-unders, and barbell lifts in combinations that challenge endurance, strength, and strategy. It forces athletes to push a little harder and brings out the best in training environments. Plus, it’s the first qualifying step for athletes trying to make it to Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and eventually the CrossFit Games.
